noun phrasemarketing

quarterly business review

A regular meeting, often every three months, where client and agency review results, relationship health and plans.

Definition

A quarterly business review, or QBR, steps back from week-to-week tasks. It covers performance against agreed KPIs, lessons learned, budget, upcoming priorities and any issues in the working relationship. Done well, it produces decisions rather than slides: what to stop, start and change. Clients should prepare their own questions; agencies should bring honest analysis, including what did not work. It is also a natural moment to revisit scope and fees. Send the agenda and data a few days ahead so the meeting is spent on decisions and not on reading slides aloud.

In a sentence

  • The quarterly business review ended with three agreed changes to the plan.

  • Both teams used the review to reset priorities.
